This is a unique print, entitled "Structure". A very strong vertical print with subtle coloration, it is a fine example of Zevon's multiple-process technique. The sheet size measures 10 ¾” x 20 ¾”, with the actual image size being 8” x 18”. It is the Artists’ Proof, and is signed on the bottom right “Irene Zevon 1959”. The work is offered unframed. Apart from a tiny hole in the upper register of the piece (see photo), the print is in excellent condition, with no foxing, and only very minor wear consistent with its age. Irene Zevon was born in 1918, in East New York, Brooklyn, the first child of a family of working class immigrants from the Ukraine. She began her career in art in 1953. She studied with Nahum Tschacbasov in New York City and Woodstock, New York, and they eventually married in 1966, living seasonally in Amagansett and East Hampton; and year-round in their loft-like apartment at the Hotel Chelsea w they became a part of the Chelsea art scene. Zevon resided and had a studio for fifty years t, until her death in 2006. Zevon worked in a modernistic, lyrical abstract-figurative style in the mediums of oil and acrylic painting, linoleum block prints and monotype prints.
