Quartz, Calcite (iridescent) Keokuk Geode closed geode dimensions: 3 in X 2-1/8 in X 2 in weight: 8.2 oz This Keokuk geode features an amazing rainbow iridescent sheen shining off the ridges of a complex calcite crystal group when viewed at just the right angle. The natural goethite coating left by the decomposition of pyrite crystals produces that iridescence. This rare & unusual geode is from Lee County, Iowa.This is one of several geodes I recently purchased from the Norm Woods geode collection.
