Medium sized PETERSON Kapet 610 panel billiard12317 SHS [185] / 70 This four-sided panel with a square shank is a shape common to Dunhill or Comoy's in England, but in Ireland Peterson made so few of them we have to describe it as a "quaint". After handling hundreds of pre-WWII Petersons I've seen only a few such panels. This specimen was made in Dublin between 1922 and 1937 when the country was the Irish Free State. The stem features a rare "Peterson's Dublin" stamping on its underside. It is definitely the original mouthpiece, but a previous owner converted the Peterson's P-lip to create a fishtail lip with a round orifice. The pipe remains in excellent condition with a 3/8" gold plated band stamped with the William Demuth Company logo. Since this band does not appear to be a repair, we can assume the pipe was one of many imported into the U.S. by this huge and famous New York firm WDC.
