WHAT A LOVELY ANTIQUE PAIR OF LARGE DINNER PLATES! EACH IS OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY. And exceptionally big and heavy. Here we have a quite exceptional and quite lovely pair of solid silver dishes of quite sensational gauge and weight.Hallmarks are deep and clear. I particularly adore their shell and gadrooned border! Each is assayed in Dublin and dated 1879 (year letter I) and has a maker's mark for W&S-sought after makers West & Sons-each is stamped with retailer's stamp for Dublin too. This is a lovely late Victorian lot and a must have. Both are really delightful large pieces! Their diameter is 10.25 inches and the height is 0.5 inch.. These lovely plates are of exceptional quality and each is a most delightful piece of hefty table silver. They are six lobed (sided) as opposed to the more conventional 5 sided variety. Weight of actual silver is a sublime 1221 grams (39.26 troy ounces),each piece is made of very thick gauge silver throughout. Their condition is superb and each is of museum quality and condition.Each is unengraved and always has been,definitely no erasures either. Irish dinner plates of this type are seldom seen and this is a cracking pair. Please note that i have listed many other good items of both modern and antique silver,please do have a look.
