About Us Guarantee Shipping Auctions IRON AGE CELTIC 'AXEHEAD' NECK RING AND PENDANT Silver, 30 grams, 124 mm. Circa 3rd century BC-1st century AD. A silver neck ornament comprising a round-section neck ring with scrolled ends and thickened central section; attached to this is an axe-head pendant with an incised saltire design on the rear and bands of punched-point decoration to the main face with ring-and-dot motifs between. Reference: cf. pendants in the form of a shaft-hole axe in the British Museum in Sestieri, A.M.B. and Macnamara, E.
