Up for sale is an excellent and early example of Nancy Patterson-Lamb work for her Iron Mountain Stoneware of Tennessee. Pattern - Blue Ridge Line. Pitcher is handmade, with a lovely glaze. Each piece is unique, and this one has lovely lines, color and depth. Patterson studied and worked abroad for many years before founding Iron Mountain. In 1954 on a scholarship she went to Denmark, where she was a guest artist at the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain factory for two years. She went on to work for a year designing and working at the Arabia factory in Helsinki and had an art studio there. After her work in Europe she traveled and studied throughout Europe, the middle east, India, and Southeast Asia. In Taiwan she offered a job designing a line of dinnerware and was working with the locals using native clays was responsible for some of the first stoneware dinner wear to come out on the market. These experiences led her to return to the US in 1961 and establish her own pottery factory, Iron Mountain Stoneware in Tennessee, which produced the beautiful pitcher in this listing. It is in great condition, especially for a vintage piece. This is a testament to the durability and quality of Iron Mountain Stoneware that these piece remain and can be found in such good condition today. Approx 8" tall, 6" diameter.
