Teaching Aid To Demonstrate the Piston Action of a Steam Engine or Railroad Locomotive This working model of a steam engine piston demonstrated the action and valves. Turn the crank on the big wheel and the horizontal rods move the piston. Another lever on top controls the valves in the upper chamber. Thats probably not exactly right but its the best I can do. It is cast iron with tin moving parts. It is in good conditon. It measures 14" wide, 5" deep and 7" tall. It is painted black with some red spots. Paint is chipped and worn. There is a number "3540". The "SR" may be some identifying mark from a school but is not part of the orginal paint. Great item for a railroad enthusiast or farm steam engine collector. Where you gonna find one?
