Isis Ceramics is a boutique ceramics company based in Oxfordshire and their pieces are highly collectible. Each piece is hand painted and signed by the artist and made using traditional methods with a tin glaze. This large square flower brick is a design especially made for Stowe Park as part of The National Trust collection and is dated on the underneath 1995. Designed to be filled with water and to hold flowers ~ looks lovely with a candle in the center too. It measures 15.7cm square at the base. (base - 6 inches x 6 inches x 4 inches tall) In excellent condition ~ no chips or cracks. Still as good as the day it was made. I would rate this piece very high quality. A Little History ... In Oxford, where the Thames is known as the Isis, the art of tin glazed ceramics continues to flourish. Deborah Sears, painter, designer and owner of ISIS CERAMICS, has collected 17th century English Delftware for many years. From this enthusiasm arose ISIS CERAMICS and a range of ceramics in beautiful patterns and shapes that evoke the spirit of 17th and 18th century England Born in America, Deborah studied painting in Europe, primarily in Italy. She moved to Oxford in the 1980?s and beside the River Isis in the centre of Oxford, ISIS CERAMICS was born. Situated in a building called the Old Toffee Factory, the new company soon began supplying retailers, designers and public institutions with dinnerware, lighting and decorative pieces. In 2000, ISIS CERAMICS relocated to a beautifully restored barn in the Oxfordshire village of Horton-cum-Studley. Now called the New Toffee Factory, this lovely rural setting has inspired new patterns and colors. ISIS CERAMICS are to be found in many private collections, and in England are on show at Blenheim Palace, Castle Howard and Highgrove, the country home of the Prince of Wales.
