This is a beautiful black velvet type cloth that measures 18" X 34" and is embossed in gold with three separate sections of Arabic calligraphy. The first section has four chapters from the Quran, known as the Four Quls. The middle section contains the letters that appear at the beginning of certain chapters of the Quran. The meaning of these letter combinations is not known, but people point to these as part of the miracles of the Quran and in some parts of the Muslim world these are displayed to protect the home and to represent the beauty and miracle of the Quran. The last panel has ayat-ul-kursi, "the verses of the throne" from Surah Baqarah, like the Four Quls and the Quranic words, Ayat-ul-Kursi is also believed to be protective when recited or displayed. A beautiful and intricate arabesque border can be foud all the way around the cloth. This wall hanging is perfect to hang above a couch because of its length. This cloth will look beautiful framed or mounted on canvas stretcher strips and hung on the wall, or used as a mihrab for the prayer area in your home.
