£1 Isle of ManGovernment Signatory : W. Dawson First Tyvek ‘plastic’ Series u Prefix “M” u GEF In 1961 the Isle of Man Government Notes Act was passed and the note issuing licences of all the commercial banks on the Island were revoked. The first Government note issues began later that year. This note was first issued in 1983 and contains synthetic fibres named Tyvek. Obverse (front) – Green on a light multicoloured underprint. Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II to the right; Triune and motto to the centre. Reverse (back) – Green. View of Tynwald Hill and St. John’s church. Grading – GEF – A very attractive note, with light handling. Paper is clean and bright with original sheen. Corners show only the slightest evidence of rounding. Size – 135mm x 67mm approximately.
