Italian Carved and parcel gilt painted Reliquary figure of St. Bernardino of Siena. Approx. 16 1/2 inches tall. Hand carved and painted figure holding out a host. Sets upon a gilt plinth with center Reliquary . Very nicely carved with fine facial features and his hands and feet. St. Bernardino started his religious career in the early 1400's caring for those with the Bubonic Plague. He was a tireless Missionary and speaker. He is most known for the IHS...he holds in his hand in the figure...The Holy name of Jesus. Patron Saint of Gamblers, Advertising and Communication. From a fabulous Montecito California estate of World Class Collectors. Who had very strong ties to the Catholic Church and the Vatican. Lovely condition. Payment is due within 5 days
