This pipe is part of the large collection purchased from the estate of John Skellchock. A California collector of primarily oversized English high-grades, he acquired his pipes in the 1960s and '70s and was known to smoke and maintain them meticulously. Almost every briar is still like new, with no surface wear, no toothmarks, a glossy stem and a crisp, clean rim. He favored English blends from Drucquer & Sons in Berkeley.
