In near mint condition with an overall length of approximately 22-½ inches. The unsharpened blade measures 17 inches in length and shows a great light grey patina; the blade's clip point tip remains sharp; the blade presents an upper 15-1/4 inch long fuller and a 6 inch long lower fuller. The following marks can be seen on the ricasso: "1864" on one side and "1928" with an "axe and wood bundle" icon on the other. The blade is pinned to the pommel and blade and grip are tightly held together; please see photos.
The cross guard and grip are brass and finished with a strong brass pommel bearing a crown; again, please see photos. The brass scabbard measures approximately 18 inches in length and remains in good condition with minor scratches but no dings or bends, and bearing the "grenadier's flaming bomb" emblem. The frog stud is also brass, not bent and in good condition. T is a half moon area at the base of the scabbard's throat that presents a darker patina when compared to the scabbard's overall bright gold patination. This is a seldom found sidearm / short sword, in near mint condition. Do not pass on the chance to add it to your valuable collection. Thanks for visiting and good luck with all your auctions.
