This is a very nicely hand-painted Italian Venetian armoire. It has a pastel sage green background with floral sprays within gilt painted filigree borders. It is from the North of Italy near Venice (Italian in manufacture) and dates from the 1940's or 1950's and is a terrific form for a collector of painted furniture. Armoires this large are very hard to find. We looked for a long time for something this large a few years ago before we bought this one from an antique dealer. Now a new baby means rearranging rooms and it no longer fits in our smoke-free pet-free home. Clothes shown in pictures are to show usage only and are not included. We set a wire basket drawer assembly in the center section that lifts out (see pics), which buyer can have if they desire. Center section has a tall mirror fixed to the inside of the door (this mirror can be seen in the picture with clothes in the armoire).Armoire measures 80" tall, 112" wide and 25" deep. It disassembles for transport and to fit easily through doors or stairways. It has cabriole legs and an ornate shell and scrollwork top. It is in good condition, the style is great and it is ready for use. Multi functional. This is a great item for a hallway, bedroom, or foyer. It would be a great display cabinet for merchandise in a boutique shop. Paint and scrollwork details have some chipping but decorative painting is quite a bit above average in quality and style. Buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements and costs. Buyer will pay shipping charges directly to the shipper. It weighs approx. 320 lbs. complete. When disassembled each piece weighs only 10-40 lbs., making it easy to move into any room. Top and bottom pieces are very long (but not heavy) and will take two people to move. Keyhole hardware is decorative only. T are no keys included.Paint is original (some gilding has been retouched) with beautifully hand-painted floral sprays (see detail photos). It retains 99% original pastel painting, which means that little patches of paint are worn away and t (see detail photos). The natural patina gives it a "shabby chic" appearance for those who desire the aged look. Please look at the photos and read description very carefully. This is an old piece and tfore not in perfect condition. We have tried to include all areas of wear in the photos so t are no surprises.
