Original "Fiume Medal" memorates the 12 Sept 1919 ,when about 2500 volunteers,mostly WW I veterans seized the City of Fiume,across the border with Yugoslavia.The Allies had promised this town to Italy back in 1915 if they joined their ranks during the Great War.Promise was never fullfilled and angry veterans took it themselves.After a bloody battle,Fiume was re-assigned to Yugoslavia.This is an original,in very good condition,with ribbon.Designed by De Carolis.Item sold as is.Questions are welcome.
