Incredibly Rare Disney Artifact. Animatronic head from It's A Small World ride. The rarest Disney collectible of all. An actual audio-animatronic head from a Disney ride. Featured in this auction is an original audio animtronic doll head from Disney's It's a Small World ride. As most Disney aficionados know, the 'Its A Small World' attraction in Disney World was completely refurbished in 2005. During the renovation, Disney imagineers overhauled the entire ride and upgraded a small handful of the original animatronic figures. The head shown in this auction is one of heads used during this upgrade. For more information about It's A Small World and it's refurbishment, It's A Small World – Wikipedia Brief Article About the 2005 Refurbishment on Description:The head is made of a heavy duty rubber material to allow movement of the mouth and eyes. The internal Audio-Animatronic electronic/hydrolic parts are not present (they're still in use on the ride in Florida). This auction is for the rubber head that fits over the audio-animatronic framework. The head itself is in excellent condition, however, it does have a small tear along the inside shell(see picture below). This is most likely the reason that this head is not being used on the ride currently. The tear itself is not visible when displayed(it's under the wig and on the back). The eye makeup on the figure suggests that this head was originally used as one of the children from Asia. If you play the embedded video below, this head is believed to be for one of the dolls that appears at 3 min, 50 seconds. video Walt and a few of the original animatronic dolls Here's a pic of this doll in action in Walt Disney World Image from It's A Small World Ride in Walt Disney World Stock image of this doll(complete) Note: The eyes and wig which are currently installed in this head are not the original parts. I have done a significant amount of research to match the exact size and color, but the original eyes are actually a part of the internal audio-animatronic mechanism(non included) and not attached to the rubber head. If you're going to display this head, it's essential to have hair and eyes. It's just way too creepy to have a bald, eyeless doll on display. Heh :) If you're a purist however, both eyes and wig can be removed in about 5 seconds. Authentication: This item is guaranteed 100% authentic. It comes with an certificate of authentication from the world's foremost expert in Disney collectibles, Phil Sears. Phil Sears is recognized worldwide as the expert in Disney autographs and historical items, and has authenticated Disney items for both Christie in London and Sotheby in New York. Sears is a member of the Manuscript Society and U.A.C.C., the two oldest organizations dedicated to superior practices in the autograph field. For more information on Phil Sears, More Interesting Information: As a serious Disney collector, I keep a close eye on Ebay for similar Disney Artifacts. Just last month I saw(for the first time in over 15 years of collecting) one of the internal animatronic head mechanisms for this head(not this specific head, but a similar one). It can be viewed here or here . This piece is not mine and not part of this auction. I'm just including the link here as a piece of information. I thought it would be interesting to the new owner of this head, or anyone collecting this sort of thing.
