Ives 1134 Westerner Standard Gauge Set 1076 OB 1930This is a fantastic large wide gauge steam passenger set from the transition era. It is the Ives "The Westerner" train set #1076 from 1930. It features the beautiful die cast #1134 steam engine with the center headlight. It comes with the #40 tender, #184 Club Car, #185 Parlor Car, and the #186 Observation Car. It is painted in the attractive black and red paint scheme. The engine is die cast which often suffers from metal fatigue. The engine is the manual reversing version with the reverse lever inside the cab. It runs good in both directions. The paint on the engine appears original. The drive wheels, trailing wheels and the side rods are new replacement parts. There is a crack in the cab window strut on the right side. The running board on the right side has also been repaired. The pilot casting has been broke and repaired and needs to be replaced and may not survive shipping. The tender is #40 and is also die cast. It may have been repainted but it's hard to tell since it is black. The draw bar is new and the coal pile has definitely been repainted. The trucks, couplers, and remaining trim is original. There is one hairline crack on the right side. The passenger cars are all original and complete. They have snake-track pull couplers with American Flyer steps and coupler supports. The Observation has a Lionel brass railing. They all have interior lighting with a pick-up roller under one truck. The boxes included in the set are the original set box marked "2 GA ELECTRICAL PASSENGER TRAIN 1076". Three corners are split. The train boxes include the engine box missing all it's end flaps, #40 tender box complete, #186 observation box complete, One passenger car box very rough, and two 2 1/4" GA electrical track boxes marked "4-203" missing end flaps on one end. Also included are several loose end flaps with one marked "#184 Red & Black", track clips and a rheostat.
