is a set of ivory carved Takasago couple. The figures depict an old couple who have lived a full and happy life together. He is always shown with a rake to rake in good, while she holds a broom to sweep out evil. The Takasago has a place in almost every Japanese wedding ceremony and is found in many homes because it is believed that any couple owning these figures will surely enjoy a life of happiness. The figures are each 2 5/8" tall, 1 1/4" wide and 7/8" thick. They are dense and hard exhibit good grain and even cross hatched grain in some areas.PAYMENT: Payment must be received within 5 days of the close of the auction.
