Ivory Netsuke of a MythicalKirin (Japanese Unicorn)

This is a very unique and beautiful elephant ivory netsuke depicting a Kirin (Japanese unicorn). The piece dates back to the early 20 th century (circa 1925), and was legally imported into the United States . The piece is signed by the artist, and possesses the two himotoshi (chord holes) on the underside. It is in excellent condition with no breaks or losses. The faint grain of the ivory is visible upon close examination in a couple of the photos. This netsuke has nice detail and is quite charming. Authentic netsuke depictions of the kirin can be difficult to find, so do not miss this chance to get one with a very low starting bid and no reserve. It measures 3.75cm (1.5 inches) high.

Over the next few weeks, I will be auctioning off the last few netsuke s from my personal collection of Japanese mythical creatures. These are the "keepers" of my collection as I originally intended to keep them for myself. But I have decided sell the entire collection so as to be able to focus more on other interests. I will be offering one netsuke every week for the next few weeks, and when these are gone, that will be it. I will not be offering any others after that.
