This auction is for an incredible, vintage, hand carved, ivory netsuke an old woman weaving a basket. This fine piece measures 1.6âe long and 1.5âe wide. The artists signature is inlayed in mother of pearl in the back of this netsuke. The ivory grain is very clear and visible. A beautiful chrysanthemum is on the back of her robes. Netsuke are tiny sculptures used to secure pouches to the kimono, these have long been an obsession for collectors in both the West and the East. They depict a variety of figures, both domestic and exotic, from marketplace tradesmen to other worldly beings, and perfectly carved animals. Please note that the ivory used in this piece is Elephant Ivory. This item was lawfully imported and is lawful to sell in accordance with eBay policy.
