A lovely 4 gal. J & E Norton, Bennington, VT. Stoneware Jug with salt-glazed cobalt bird and twig for decoration. Julius and Edward Norton ran the family business together from 1850-1859. This jug has no cracks, just minor staining from use over its early years and one 3/8" flake and one 3/8" ping. Otherwise it's in wonderful shape--even having its cork. Stands about 17" tall and 10" wide.
