Original Antique French Cameo Glass Landscape (11 1/2"x 5 1/8") by Jacques Gruber (see below for his info) of Nancy, France in Wood Frame (approximately 13 3/8" x 6 3/4") we believe that the wood frame is original to the picture. Please note that on the photos you see a reflection of our lights on the picture sides and you may see a round reflection of our camera lens in the photos.
Jacques Gruber was the head of Daum Nancy Glasswork shop in 1893. His work is very rare to find. The glass picture is signed Jacques Gruber at the left lower corner. The picture consists of 2 separate glass sheets (frosted glass and etched glass) overlapping one another to create one picture. For your info is a paragraph from Ecole-de Nancy website regarding Jacques Gruber. "A number of talented artists worked for Daum as the head of workshop handling the decoration, the first in 1893 Jacques Gruber, Decorator and Glass maker, followed by Henri Berge in 1895. On his arrival in 1904 Amalric Walter who served his apprenticeship at Sevres Chine works encouraged Daum the use of glass paste technique".
