Jade Heron Tea VesselBy Nancy Yturriaga Adams10"W X 13"HOutstanding piece of art!Wheel thrown vessel with hand modeled Heron motif. No molds of any kind are used in this process.Since these are strictly sculptural, they are perfect for this unique and unusual surface treatment. Low-fire glazes are airbrushed in many layers of color, creating a luminous surface texture reflecting an intensity of color. Each piece is signed and dated. About the Artist Born in San Francisco, California, Nancy Yturriaga Adams spent one year studying basic ceramic technique at City College of San Francisco. After receiving an Associate of Arts degree in 1969, she went on to study classical literature at San Francisco State University. For years she worked in clay in various studio spaces, including Ruby O'Burke's workshop in San Francisco. Now living on Sweetwater Ranch in southern Oregon, she combines her art with riding the hills on horseback, organic gardening and hosting Sweetwater Cottage Retreat, a destination for those who share similar interests.ARTIST'S STATEMENTMy work is individually wheel-thrown white earthenware vessels with hand-carved and hand-modeled flora and fauna motifs. Low fire glazes are airbrushed on the ware in multiple coats and then fired to maturity in an electric kiln. I prefer the quiet atmosphere of the lone studio potter. read more
