James Blaine - John A Logan rare handkerchief 1884 Welcome to our auctions!
We continue to liquidate the collections of Earl and Barbara Dodge. In our store you will find political memorabilia, depression glass, antique books, and many rare items related to the Temperance movement.
Earl was a near life-long member of the Prohibition Party and besides putting together a collection for the party which is now at the Smithsonian, he also had a personal collection which we are now working to sell.
Item: James G Blaine, John A Logan 1884 campaign handkerchief
Measurements: 19 inches square approx
Condition: You can see on the scan that t are some condition problems with this old handkerchief. T are some small brown spots - I don't know if these are rust or what they are. T are a couple at the upper section, and most notably one on the head of Logan. T are also a couple of faint lines that maybe be dirt or the same rust substance, one is horizontal and one is vertical. The spot on the head of Logan is also showing a very tiny amount of fraying, probably from corrosion of the rust spot. I have not attempted any cleaning of this item and do not know what might be removed and what is permanent.
