JAMES KENT Ltd England GRANVILLE matching set of gravy boat and stand (liner plate) in DUBARRY (Du Barry) chintz -- in MINT condition ! This large set is beautifully made and has a stately, elegant appearance. With the pieces together the set is 4" tall. The gravy boat is 7-1/4" wide (from the tip of the spout to the end of the handle) and 4-1/2" across the open top; the stand is 7" across. Both pieces are marked with the "Est 1897 James Kent England" globe backstamp with "Dubarry" stamped in the ribbon below it; the gravy boat has "GRANVILLE" impressed in the base. The set has lovely gold edges. FYI: Following Royal Winton's 1995 lead, James Kent Ltd. began re-issuing their popular chintz patterns, first exclusively to retailers in 1997 and then directly to consumers in 1999. Unlike the original 1930's earthenware, which was inexpensively made and quite apt to have production flaws, the new chintz ware was made to the highest production standards. The Granville line was only available by special order, so few examples were made before the company soon went out of business. This Granville gravy boat and stand retailed for $125 in 1999. I purchased it new and have never used it, so the 2-piece set is in perfect, flawless condition. It's a stunning example of Dubarry chintz, suitable for anyone's fine chintz display or holiday table.
