James Tufts Silverplate Pickle Castor with Cranberry Enameled Jar, Lid & Fork Up for auction is a superb and rare antique silverplate pickle holder with extremely ornate and detailed scroll work. The most unusual feature that's noticed is the lovely curved handle that starts at the back and curves all the way to the top and over the pickle jar, t is also a holder on the back that the fork hangs from. The design on the handle alone is unique and beautiful with a floral impediment down the center and two scrolling leaves and vines on either sides of the base. T is nothing broken or missing at the ends of the handle next to the leaves by the base, that is just another added interest to the design. The base and especially the legs are also extremely ornate as shown in the pictures below. This stunning Victorian pickle caster is stamped James W. Tufts and is in excellent condition. The plating is beautiful, bright and shiny with very little if any wear. T are no missing, broken or bent pieces and it stands straight. Measurements are 11 ½ inches high by 3 3/4 inches diameter insert. The pickle fork that hangs on the back is in perfect condition, 7 3/4 inches long with nice sharp barbs on the two outside tines.
