This oversized 2 1/2" (diameter) marble is a one of a kind work of art by glass artist James Yaun of Asheville, NC. The glass James uses is called borosilicate glass and is commonly used for casserole dishes and in scientific apparatus because of its strength and durability. To achieve the beautiful effects, all of the glass art objects are made with 24 carat gold and / or fine silver. The gold and silver are trapped in between layers of clear glass to produce etal and translucent images that make them so intriguing.
