JAMIN - DARLOT Est. 10in (255mm) Fast Acting Brass lens (c1860-62) with R&P Focusing and Slot for Waterhouse Stops. Inscribed (DA). Made in Paris by famous French manufacturers; Jamin's business was taken over by Darlot in 1860, and renamed Darlot . For about a year (1860/1), lenses carried both the Jamin and Darlot names. Our example on offer (circa1860-62 ), has an estimated focal length of 10 inches and easily covers formats to 10x8 or grater. It’s a Fast Acting lens and has the letters “ DA ” inscribed on. The lens has provisions for Waterhouse stop, ( not included) and Rack & Pinion focusing . Condition looks nicely aged – the brass barrel shows signs of normal to heavy tarnishing and ageing – but no dings or dents. The glass is very clean – but there is slight balsam at the very edges of rear lens – but otherwise a good lens considering its age – it is free of clouding and fungal. The lens measures approximately 19.5cm long (including hood depth of 5.5cm ). The front diameter measures 8.25cm wide and rear of 9.5cm ; rear of lens contains a detachable flange of approximately 14.5cm diameter. The R & P focusing operates nice and smoothly. Serial No.26975.
