Japan Disney Store Tango no Sekku 2008 LE Pin - Baby MICKEY & Pup PLUTO - This limited edition pin was released Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Disney Store in Japan ( JDS ). This pin shows young baby Mickey Mouse and pup Pluto celebrating the Boy's Day Festival. Baby Mickey is riding on a blue Koi nobori and pup Pluto is riding on a red Koi nobori. Mickey is holding a fan in one hand and wearing a "Kabuto" (Japanese Samurai Warrior's helmet) on his head. Pup Pluto is wearing a paper origami "Kabuto" on his head. "Kodomo no Hi" (meaning "Children's Day") is a Japanese national holiday which takes place annually on May 5. This day was originally called "Tango no Sekku" (known as "Boys' Day Festival"). This is a day to pray for the sound growth and happiness of young boys. To expel evil spirits and celebrate the future of their sons, families hoist "Koinobori" (cloth carp streamers) on flagpoles. "Gogatsu ningyo" (5th Month Dolls) are displayed in homes with images of young "Kintarou" (the childhood name of a hero of the Heian period, famous for his strength as a child.) usually riding on a large carp wearing a traditional Japanese samurai helmet called a "Kabuto".
