JAPAN OLD FORTUNE GODS 5 CARVED BUTTONS VINTAGE! (827)

Description :
JAPANESE Hand Carved Ivory (?) Buttons 5 Fortune Gods - With Box
Up for bid are these interesting and unique Japanese hand carved Fortune Gods buttons. T are 5 of them in all. They are: Hannya (female demon); Ebisu (god of abundance); Okina (venerable patriarch); Tenno (demon); and Daikoku (god of wealth). I have seen these before on eBay and they were listed as being ivory. I do not know if they are ivory or not but I suspect they are. T are two with a sticker on the back that says "Japan". Three of the five have Japanese characters carved on the back (see photo). These were an estate sale find! Inside the box, t is a business card from the "Button Box, Fine Gifts, Los Angeles 36, Calif.". On the back of this card someone wrote the names of the demons (see photo). I do not think these were ever used as buttons but just for display. They are in need of a cleaning but I will leave that to the buyer. They come in their own original wooden box. It is complete but warped.
