Japanese Chopsticks

This is a pair of wonderfully carved and painted chopsticks, each made of genuine antique pre-ban African elephant tusk ivory.

The chopsticks are adorned with gold and black paint, depicting a house, a gate, and Japanese characters. The chopsticks measure 8 inches in length, are straight and have tapered ends.

The ivory is beautiful, very old, smooth and intricately painted and polished.

I would date this pair to be at least 50 years old. Except for some minor "flea bites" at the top of the chopsticks, the pair is in great condition, with no loss to the paint, the colors still brilliant, no warping, and no cracks in the ivory.
