ANTIQUE Genuine Pre-Ban African Elephant Tusk Ivory Japanese Chopsticks This is a pair of wonderfully carved and painted chopsticks, each made of genuine antique pre-ban African elephant tusk ivory. The chopsticks are adorned with gold and black paint, depicting a house, a gate, and Japanese characters. The chopsticks measure 8 inches in length, are straight and have tapered ends. The ivory is beautiful, very old, smooth and intricately painted and polished. I would date this pair to be at least 50 years old. Except for some minor "flea bites" at the top of the chopsticks, the pair is in great condition, with no loss to the paint, the colors still brilliant, no warping, and no cracks in the ivory. A superb specimen of antique elephant tusk chopsticks. Since Ebay does not allow the export of elephant tusk ivory, please do not bid on this item if you live outside of the United States. I start all my items at 99 cents, with no reserve, so this is your chance to get a real bargain. From my personal collection. Over the next few months, I will be liquidating jewelry, art, antiques and collectibles that I have collected over the past 30 years, to raise money for my grandson's college tuition. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY- I must disclose this according to Ebay policy. Attention eBay and all interested parties: This listing meets Federal, State, and eBay policies and guidelines. Due to International Treaties and Laws, this ivory will NOT be shipped outside of the United States. The item listed in this auction is Pre-Ban and otherwise exempt from the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 or Ivory ban of June 9, 1989. I legally possess, and I am legally permitted to sell this ivory item, and offer this for auction to purchasers in the United States ONLY. This is elephant ivory that was legally imported into the U.S. long before the ivory ban.
