For auction is an original WW2 Japanese BAYONET for the Arisaka Type 38 and Type 99 rifles . This will be a nice addition to your historic rifle and/or collection. Blade It was made by the Tokyo Artillery Arsenal (Koishikawa) up to 1923 or Kokura Arsenal 1923 to 1945 . The arsenal mark was the same throughout. It is impossible to date it precisely. The hooked quillon, contoured bird's-head pommel, and grip screws point to a mid to early manufacturing date. T is a rarely seen factory proof mark under the arsenal mark on the blade. T is another rare marking on the crossguard below the muzzle ring on the handle side. It is a large, nicely struck marking. Marked with the serial number 379369 . The blade is factory original bright with no blueing. The release button does function properly. It will mount on a rifle properly. The factory original edge is present. T are some scratches that may indicate someone honed the edge a little. T are minor areas of pitting especially at the tip. T is corrosion and minor pitting on the handle metal. T is one large dent in the wood grip arsenal mark side below the blade side screw. T are four cuts on the bottom of the other wood grip. The rear of the pommel has been banged slightly on the left side. It does not affect the release mechanism, however.Scabbard T are no major dents. The blade slides in and out smoothly. T is some minor pitting. Other than that, it is in very nice shape.Please let me know if you need any other pictures. Please bid on this item only if it is legal to purchase and possess it.
