He learned painting from Murata Toho and Ishimaru Shungyu. He was good at paintings of flowers and birds, Sansui-ga, and chikurin (bamboo grove. Mizuta Chikuho and Akamatsu Unrei were pupils of Chikugai. His son Himejima Chikutei was also a painter. His pseudonym is Chikugai. Condition Signature & Seal = Chikugai. Scroll Box = Original wooden box. Roller Ends = Wood. Technique = Handpainted on Silk. Condition = Refer to all pictures, stain,wrinkle.
