This item was purchased by my family as an antique in the 1950's. I recently had this appraised and the date was set at late 19th century. Appraiser said you don't often see this much detail. T are over a dozen baskets being carried to market. Entire piece carved from a single piece of Ivory. Lots of character in the mans face and clothing. Artists signature on the underside. T are NO age cracks. I can only sell this in the US without special permits due to it being made of elephant Ivory.
