Japanese Kesa or buddist priest robe made of Chinese silk brocade with dragon and cloud pattern. The four badges in the corners are the gaurdians of the four directions. The two at the top in the middle are the benevolent kings. Th robe is 44 inches by 79 inches. The backing is purple silk. My best estimate is that this robe was made in the very early 20th century based on the brocade. The silk squares and backing are in very good condition. Some of the seams have loose or missing threads. These can be replaced if desired but the appearance is little affected.
