These are a pair of Kokeshi Dolls that a friend brought to me about 13 years ago from Japan. They are in the image of a man and woman, both painted in bright colors of maroon, green, grey, white and more. They have decoration all around the front and sides, with their backs remaining solid in color. I believe that they stained the upper parts of the wood to achieve the maroon color, but not sure. These are of a good size measuring at 8- 1/2 inches tall for the man, 7 inches tall for the woman. They are damage free with exception of some small markings along one side of the man, you can see them in the second picture, and they do not take from the look of this item. Have been well cared for and will come from a smoke free home. Made of a nice weighty wood. |
