Up for bid is a beautifully Vintage hand painted Japanese KUTANI covered tea cup. The piece is incredible!!! It is literally covered in Polychrome raised enamels of a rainbow or colors. The piece has a gold ground background with Immortals, Geisha, Shogun, Attendants in a seated grouping. The painting of these characters go all the way around the cup - it is literally covered. The faces show fine detail. The bottom is covered in rusty red and gold Kutani decoration as well as the lid on the top and all the way around with a zigzag pattern of verticle lines in gold with a rusty red background. The inside is covered in Japanese Caligraphy. The piece is a very fine white Porcelain high luster and very fine, translucent. The cup measures approx 4 inches tall which includes cover x 3 inches dia (measure of cover), the cup is 2-5/8 inches diameter. The edge of cup is very fine tapering to 1mm. Very fine and highest quality of Japanese art. Any info on this piece, the artist and period is appreciated. It is very beautiful in the decoration!!!
