Hana-Shoubu "Iris" Description This superior series full of traditional beauty was collaborated by Tsuge and lacquer craft workshop Aizu Nunobun. The series was made to pay their respect to the works by Namiki, created by the request of Dunhill in 1929.The lacquer work artists of Kokkokai applied lacquer(maki-e) on those works such as fountain pens, fog watches, and smoking goods. Deep black color is applied even to the bamboo stem shank and brings a sense of unity to the pipe. The maki-e artist Shigeo Komatsu painted plants which represent the four seasons of Japan on the bowl.“Geisho-Ui,”a masterpiece of iris bred by Sadatomo Matsudaira In the 19th century is described on the pipe.
