This highly carved cane is made up of 8 highly polished bone segments carved to look like bamboo. The top knob is carved to resemble the root ball of a stalk of bamboo, while the 2nd, 3rd and 4th segments each have a 3.25” high relief carved portrait of an early 20th or late 19th century military officer. Each of these officers is figured in a highly embroidered European style uniform with a sash across the chest and various medals. The engraved lines of eacg uniform has been infilled with red pigment; each officer`s hair is tinted black. Missing ferrule, else EXC. A super cane, probably around the turn of the century. Total length 35.5”.
