Vintage Bustsudan, recently imported directly from Japan. This diminutive home shrine is a miniature model of the popular traditional Butsudan, featuring a black lacquered case and elaborate gold-leaf carvings. It measures approximately 22 1/2 inches tall, 14 inches wide and 12 inches deep, and features a pull-out shelf and and two drawers. The inner sanctum, or palace, is decorated with carvings in a crane and floral motif, and has a small cubby with sliding doors. It will accomodate three Gohonzon approximately 3-5 inches wide by 11 inches tall. The item is in good condition, with no obvious damage other than routine wear and tear and some dulling of the lacquer from age. A wax and buff would likely restore the shine to the lacquer. The carvings are in excellent condition. Perfect for a small apartment or desktop, this is a very rare style for this size.
