This original Japanese Army Officer's sword is mounted with a Manchurian Arsenal-made blade that measures 27 inches in length. We have made two pencil rubbings of both sides of the tang to facilitate identification. Blade has a couple of nicks to the cutting edge as well as a little surface staining, otherwise it remains in very nice bright condition. The fittings all remain very nice however, t is a little wear to some of the brass fittings and push button snap is broken and will not hold blade to scabbard. Nevertheless, the wrapping remains very nice and intact and sword is complete with Army Company officer's sword knot that shows age appropriate wear and a small area of separation to the outer brown layer. Cut out, high quality tsuba and all fittings surrounding the tsuba are present and in good condition. The metal scabbard has a little light scuffing but remains very nice and has high quality fittings that are attached in a secure and well-fitting manner. Overall a very nice sword that he previous owner acquired from a San Diego area estate of a former USN veteran of WWII in the 1980s. Overall length sword is 38 inches in length. This is a perfect addition to any WWII Japanese militaria collection. Buyer pays $15.00 US shipping and handling (USPS Priority Mail ), international bidders pay airmail costs and handling.
