Japanese Pottery Satsuma Pair of Hand Painted Geisha Petite Vases Mouse over images to see enlarged version Description For auction is a superb pair of Japanese vases made in the Satsuma region . The vases are estimated to have early vintage (probably around 1900) and are charming true mirror pair of vases. The items are decorated with elaborate detailing showing two Geisha to one side and a group of Geisha to the other side both in an Oriental landscape and as mentioned are "mirror" pair. They are hand painted and are surrounded by cobalt blue which is decorated in gold detailing and patterning to create a stunning pair of vases. The items are in very good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. There is some wear to the gold patterning especially to the shoulder of one vase and in addition there is some allover age realted crazing to both vases. Despite these the vases still display very nicely and they are considered to be a nice example pair. Any white marks to the item in the photos are as a result of light reflection. Size & Weight Size - 12cm (4.75 inches) high Weight - 320g Markings Oriental character markings to the underside (as shown in the attached photograph for your reference).
