Description composed by world renowned Asian expert & appraiser, Mr. Anthony Lee. His bio is below. Japan, mid 1900's. Pre WWII Shin Gunto Samurai Katana Officers's Taken Iwo Jima. A shin Gunto sword in wooden lacquered traditional saya with a brass collar and belt ring, the tsuka of wrapped ray skin with standard military mounts, leather wrapped fuchi, 4 seppa. The tang with incised inscription - SHOWA 11 NEN (1936), stamped armoury mark and indecipherable maker's name ending with the character
