Hello, I welcome you to "nihontoart". After much effort and time my website is finally complete, within the next few weeks I will be uploading pictures of some beautiful Japanese blades where you can purchase them directly if you are interested. Please visit me at: . For this sword please scroll to the lower part of the page where many pictures are posted, and please take the time to read the full description. This is a real Antique Japanese blade, it is for a serious collector and not for someone who plans to buy it for cutting tests. It has survived centuries and requires proper care which I would be happy to guide you with. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions! I am posting this really beautiful Katana dating back to Edo Period (over 250 years old) . I am an antiques collector and would like to offer to the rest of the world these amazing art pieces, they cannot be reproduced so whatever remains out there will one day become more and more rare . Everyone is welcome to see and ask questions, but only serious buyers please. My collection is of very high quality items, you will not find rust or forging flaws. I would categorize my blades to be of a higher grade compared to most of the others sold on Ebay. They are not modern day Chinese reproductions. I have sold many on ebay and especially privately for very high amounts. People with Zero Feedback please contact me before! Blade: This is a very nice Shinto Katana with recent NTHK Hozon and the blade dates to Edo period (around 250 years old). This Nakago (tang) reads " Tamba (no) Kami Yoshimichi " and this is confirmed a correct signature by the NTHK. This blade is very healthy and quite large, it is extremely thick and heavy. It is very well forged and would have be useful if it were up against a strong armor of its time. The age of the blade can be seen on the Nakago, there are two Mekugi-ana (peg holes), one which had been filled in. This is a good indication that the sword has been passes to more than one owner over time. The Hamon is extremely strong and has a nice theme, it would seem like a variation of styles, but I think is actually Sudare-ba (bamboo blinds style) . The polish is in great condition, a very unaltered and healthy blade.Koshirae: The Fittings on this koshirae as a whole are very beautiful, everything is dated to Edo period . If you look well in the pictures you can see that the Tsuba is very detailed with an elegant dragon, it is made of Shakudo and I think as a whole there are large amounts of gold. The Fuchi and Kashira are matching and are made of Shakudo, they have very nice Family Crest. The Tsuka (handle) is in tight fitting despite its age, and has very old rayskin in solid condition, the rayskin has a very large perl like nodule. The Tsuka-ito is a more recent wrapping and is very healthy with no rips whatsoever. The saya is old and has a more recent layer of lacquer, it has a nice design with two shades of black parallel lines . Both Mekugi's are nice elegant matching Japanese themes. The Habaki is very thick and heavy, a nice addition to the overall quality of each component. Both Seppa's were custom made in gold color so that the fittings are nice and tight, the blade fits very firmly when assembled. This is a full package, as you can see in the first picture there are many items included. Altogether this makes a unique and extremely valuable antique Katana, is it worthy enough to add to your collection? If you would like any more pictures or info don't be shy to inquire, I posted more than 30 pictures so you can get the full idea of what this sword really is. If you have any other questions I will be glad to answer with my limited knowledge. Thanks for watching :)More Details on the pieces: Koshirae Length: ~ 96 cm or 37.8 inches Tsuka Length: ~ 23 cm or 9 inches Cutting Edge: ~ 61.1cm or 24 inchesNakago: ~ 14.8 cm or 6 inches Width at Hamachi: ~ 3.4 cm or 1.34 inches ...
