This is a hand painted Japanese Satsuma three footed, round covered box. I believe it is from the Taisho period, circa 1924. The leaves are lightly outlined in gold while the pink magnolias and the flower buds are outlined in black. The white magnolia is of a raised enamel. There are no chips, cracks, dings or other damage. The piece measures 5 1/2" in diameter and 3 13/16" tall. Both inside of the lid of the cover and the rim of the lower part are marked '25' in pencil. I believe that this was so the right top could be matched to the right bottom. The inside of the bowl is decorated with an orange lily. There is some discoloration on the inside of the box. The piece is very finely crazed as is all good quality Satsuma. As I guide I am using 'A Treasury of Satsuma' 1981 by Sandra Andacht so you may be getting a deal. The price I have listed is much lower than the price in the book. Happy Collecting!!!
