Item Description

The artist was Kano Tsunenobu ( 狩野常信 1636-1713), eighth-generation member of the Kanō family of Japanese artists, who served as painter to the Tokugawa shogun. In 1704 he received the honorary title of hogen (Eye of the Law) and in 1709 the most coveted title of hoin (Sign of the Law). Signed ”常信”the seal's figure of China’s Bronze pod shape was propurly used by the Kano family’s artists.

This painting is one of a set of 7 paintings from a local estate auction. It's100% hand painted on silk, not a print or copy of any kind.

It's mounted at the back but not on a scroll. Please see other items.
