Another sword from my aging neighbor that brought several swords back from Japan many years ago. I sold one previously, but wasn't able to sell the last one. I convinced him to try again. This blade is around 160 + years old. It's apparently the early signature of a later famous sword maker that changed his signature, so I've been told. The scabbard is missing the top portion of the handle and t is wooden blade in place of the small blade that would be in the side "pocket" of the scabbard. The blde measures 12 1/2 inches long and 7/8 of an inch wide. The back is 1/4 inch wide and the tang is 3 1/2 inches from base to back notch. The cutting edge is 9 inches measured across the back. T is a very distinct grain to the metal and temper. If you would like additional photos please e mail me with your e mail address so that I can send JPG photos. If purchased by Pay Pal buyer should include the % charged for transaction. Owner has a certificate of some kind in Japanese. Says it measures approximately 3 x 5 inches.
