MATCHED SILVER 950 CIGARETTE CASE AND LIGHTER CASE- 1940's. Absolutely gorgeous sterling (actually 950, which is better than typical sterling) lady's cigarette case and lighter case. The lighter case fits a Zippo lighter insert. Most likely this set is from Japan because it was given to the late Governor Sholtz on his travels through Japan in the 1940's right after WWII. In addition, the 950 Silver mark is typical in many fine Japanese silver items of this time. The cases are both in perfect condition with no scratches or dents. The area for engraving on each piece is clear and ready to be engraved with initials or a name. This cigarette case has a fantastic mechanism for opening. The top cover lid slides about 1/8 inch past the bottom lid, which releases the inner clasp. Tfore, no exterior clasp shows and the case is ultra sleek. The deep and angled carving makes the light reflect off of these cases in a most brilliant way! The blue case that holds this silver set is lined with a silk cloth and it closes with a brass clasp. The wood case is warped a little and while it closes completely at the center, the edges have a gap of about 1/8 inch at the far front edges. The material on the outer cover is in superb shape and is tightly attached to the box. The cigarette case is 4 inches tall by 3 1/4 inches wide by only 5/16th inches thick. You pay only the actual cost of shipping and insurance, no handling fees ever! We have superb feedback, so please bid with confidence. We also accept returns if the item is not as we have described it.
