Vintage genuine elephant ivory carving of a fisherman holding a long fishing pole and pulling a fish out of the water! Main figure is carved from one piece of tusk (except pole)! Top part of his pole sets in top of hand (it is removable for storage). T is supposed to be a fishing line attached to pole and fish, but it is missing, but easily could put one on t Wonderful detailing and craftsmanship! High quality work! Hand carved by Sunamoto Carving & Co., Tokyo, Japan! Signed/marked on bottom with incised kangi marks and a flower in brown! Also has (3) surface marks in pencil. Comes in it's original box! Good weighty piece! Acquired by my parents in the 60's when we lived in Japan! The son of the company owner (he is probably the owner now) would bring examples to our house and my parents would choose which ones they wanted to add to their collection! Has been stored in box since and has never been displayed!

Measures approx. 7 1/4" tall (without pole) with pole is approx. 13" tall, approx. 3" wide and 2" deep (these last 2 taken at the widest parts).

This is in excellent condition! I don't see any cracks, chips, breaks or checking!
