Original Japanese woodblock printed on a Japanese paper by Marguerite Gifford (1879 - 1969). She traveled to Japan in 1939 and studied woodblock printing t until 1941 when she returned to her home in Louisville. So this probably dates from that period. Titled on a little piece of paper attached to the back: " Old Gate of Doshisa University / First Christian school in Japan." Signed in ink at lower right corner: "Marguerite Gifford. Titled in ink in the top left margin: "Doshisha Tohiwai Mon." DIMENSIONS: Image 9.0 x 12.125 inches; sheet size 10.25 x 13.875 inches. CONDITION: Good; very slightly soiled in the margins; pinholes at the four corners (in the margins); relic mounting tapes on back four corners; not laid down. Buyer pays packing, shipping, insurance via Priority Mail $8.00 in U. S. , more elsew (probably $20 to Europe). Money orders, personal checks (clear), credit cards via Paypal.
